Waiting Patiently

I waited so patiently for you to arrive this morning, but you didn't show your face.
I sat, washed up, I made a coffee, I made another coffee but you were still reluctant to be in my company. I can only compare this feeling to that of the hopeful English, waiting for Spring to arrive after a long drawn out Winter. Like the first Daffodil to peep out of the thawing ground.
I must say, I'd given up. Im sorry but I lost confidence in you.
Then suddenly, a beam of hope. A fleeting ray of sunlight breaking through the thick clouds. I hear the front doorbell ring. Talk about timing, what are the chances of your arrival as soon as I step in the shower. If only you had been patient and waited 5 more minutes, my immediate thought as the water cascades down around me, my eyes covered in soap bubbles.
You are all I hoped for. I unwrap the cardboard box with great excitement.
My new stamps have arrived!
